Liga3: Great goal from “rookie” Dedé gives Briosa its first lead

The 2025/2026 edition of Liga 3 has kicked off. And it was a disappointing start for Académica. In the opening round of Serie B, António Barbosa's men lost 2-1 to 1.º Dezembro at Real SC Stadium (the Sintra team's borrowed home). With eight new faces in the starting lineup compared to last season—Ricardo Teixeira, Montez, and Leandro Silva were the "holdouts"—the students played in a 4-3-3 formation, but their start wasn't the best. Isabelinha could have opened the scoring, but, isolated, she couldn't get past Carlos Alves. The visitors responded, and Leandro Silva, with a guided pass, found Montez in the box. The midfielder received the ball but shot over. On the next play, Isabelinha again gained ground on the right side of the attack and, after outpacing two opponents, crossed to the far post, where António Infante appeared, unmarked, to tap in for 1-0 in the 24th minute. Before half-time, Leandro Silva placed his new signing Camilo Triana in front of goal, but the former Belenenses player hit the post with a bang.
The equalizer came in the final minute of the first half. After a good attacking move by Académica, involving Tiago Augusto, Nuno Pereira, and Camilo Triana, Tiago Augusto managed to cross into the box, where Montez headed in, making it 1-1.
